CSU-CHILL Casebook: 25 August, 2006

Strong (50 - 55 dBZ) storm shown on KFTG images near Estes Park (EPK) around 2340 UTC. Storm motion suggestd that Platteville might eventually be threatened, so data collection was extended beyond 2300 UTC. The EPK storm eventually reached the greater KFNL - metro Loveland - south Fort Collins area around 0125 UTC. CHILL data collection varied through several operating modes as Jim conducted system tests. Some conventional VH mode PPI scans were done as the storm was producing heavy rain at Loveland. (KUNC outdoor concert was going on at this time). As the echo system reached CHILL, high elevation angle fixed pointing data collection was done for Dmitri. Ultimately, nothing happened at Platteville.
