CSU-CHILL Casebook: 11 August, 2006
At the start of REFRACTT scanning (1000 MDT / 1600 UTC) an E - W reflectivity fine line feature was present over the northern portion of the Denver area. This line moved northward and reached Greeley around 1930 UTC. The GXY AWOS data showed a wind shift and a dew point drop as the line passed. This was in agreement with the approach of an area of drier N values on the NCAR composite plots. A band of TCU and a few rain shafts were also observed with this band passage. During the final hour of operations, a well defined axis of higher N values was observed to expand from the KDEN area to KFNL. The KFNL dewpoint increased approximately 4C as this higher N airmass arrived.
