CSU-CHILL Casebook: 10 September, 2006

Isolated thunderstorm passed Bringi's 2DVD at the NOAA Platteville site around 2220 UTC. A second period of very light (approximately 10 dBZ) rain passed the disdrometer about 20 minutes after the thunderstorm. During the final hour of data collection, a developing cluster of thunderstorms reached the KDEN airport area. Real time $\Psi _{dp}$ patterns indicate that $K_{dp}$ increased over the eastern half of the airfield around 2240 UTC. METARS had the visibility decreasing to 1/4 sm at 2342.
