CSU-CHILL Casebook: 9 June, 2005

SPC forecasting slight risk of severe storms within the CHILL + Pawnee dual Doppler coverage area. Both radars brought up in an effort to collect additional data for Brenda Dolan's thesis. Primary storm of interest developed in the foothills SW of Ft. Collins and moved northeast towards Wellington. Multiple reports of .75 to 1.25 inch hail from the NW half of Ft. Collins. After this storm area lost intensity near Wellington, CHILL scanning was shifted into small sector, high time resolution (approx 90 sec cycle time) coverage of the Denver area as several thunderstorms crossed the urban flooding rain gage network.
