Synoptic scale upslope wind flow generated widespread rain during the May 8 - 9 period in 2003. RHI scans conducted by the CSU-CHILL radar contained a reflectivity enhancement (bright band) at the height were the hydrometeors descended through the 0C level and began to melt. The dual polarization signatures in the melting layer were also well-defined.
