The CSU-CHILL National Weather Radar Facility, located in Greeley, CO, is an advanced, transportable dual-polarized dual-wavelength (S- and X-band) weather radar system. The facility is operated by Colorado State University, under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation and the University.

Specific differential propagation phase ($ K_{dp} $) values of several degrees per km were observed in heavy thunderstorm precipitation over Denver on 3 July 2009. The two panel image shows $ Z_h $ and the one hour rainfall totals observed by the Denver Urban Drainage and Flood Control District gauge network.
