Zdr variations in a rain shower Zdr variations in a rain shower

CSU-CHILL X-band RHI scan data with horizontal polarization reflectivity on top and differential reflectivity (Zdr) on the bottom. The most positive Zdr values occur in the near range edge of the shower where new precipitation shafts are developing.
