Website Improvements

Several new features added:

DOW radar data evaluations: August 26, 2011

DOW 7 at CSU-CHILL

Coordinated dual-polarization data collection was done by the DOW 7 and CSU-CHILL radars during the conduct of a 20hr project.

NASA N-Pol radar: closer view

Dr. Brenda Dolan (research scientist in the CSU Atmospheric Science Department) took photographs from an aircraft in the traffic pattern at the Greeley-Weld County Airport (GXY). The CSU-CHILL radar and the temporarily-visiting NASA N-Pol radar are located on opposite sides of the main runway at GXY.

Radar calibration sphere flight: December 2, 2010

Balloon-borne calibration sphere

A light weight foil-covered sphere provides a target with a known backscattering cross section that is used as a reference during a radar calibration experiment.

N-Pol Radar Antenna Installation: Oct 21, 2010

Rigging for antenna lift
Lowering antenna onto pedestal

The new center-fed antenna was mounted on the N-Pol radar at GXY on 21 October 2010.

Prof. Chandrasekar included various VCHILL services as a part of a short course taught at the ERAD 2010 conference in Sibiu, Romania.

N-Pol Radar Site Survey: Jul 26, 2010

N-Pol at GXY

Mike Watson (L) and John Gerlach (R) gather soil strength data at a candidate operating site for the NASA N-Pol radar on the property of the Greeley- Weld County Airport.
