CSU-CHILL Casebook: 29 August, 2002b
Numerous thunderstorms developed along a boundary layer radial velocity shear line that was located from just southeast of Greeley, to near Denver International Airport, to the southeast suburbs of Denver. Shortly after 2100 UTC several non-supercell tornadoes developed along the shear line near where E-470 curves around the southeast portion of the greater Denver area. (Due to the approximately 90 km range to this area, the tornadic circulations cannot be resovled in the CHILL data.) As the afternoon continued, a north-south squall line developed just east of Greeley.
